Nebraskans deserve to feel completely secure and confident when they make their voices heard. But right now, the public’s trust in the Secretary of State’s office is at an all-time low because the basic requirements of the job aren't being met.

Between tossing out valid ballot initiative petition signatures and releasing our sensitive, private voter data to the federal government, the current office holder has broken faith with the people of this state. Let’s be clear: following the law and respecting the will of the voters is not optional, and it is not up for personal interpretation. The citizens of Nebraska deserve a whole lot more respect than they have been given lately.

What Erodes Trust?

Trust isn't lost overnight, it’s worn away by specific failures in leadership:

• Corruption, lack of transparency, and perceived unfairness in how everyday state business is handled.

• Misleading information and a flat-out failure to be responsive to public needs.

• A growing perception that officials are looking out for their own political agendas rather than acting in the public's best interest.

My opponent wants to respond to these failures by implementing a partisan playbook that treats our local institutions like a national political battlefield.
