I'm the middle kid born to two incredible parents, Mike &amp; Barb. My childhood was filled with youth sports, camping trips, classic Nintendo, and good old fashioned Catholic education. Eighteen years of it, to be exact! I first attended St. John the Baptist elementary school in Plattsmouth, and then Gross Catholic High School in Omaha. I even graduated from Creighton University with a BA in Graphic Design in 2004! After joining the workforce for a couple of years, I had a new passion ignited within me. I wanted to COOK! I went back to school for Culinary Arts at the MCC Institute for the Culinary Arts starting in 2007, and I've been cheffing it up ever since. I graduated with my AAS in Culinary Arts in 2011, and I was honored to be my class' Salutatorian.In late 2009, I welcomed my daughter Helen to the world. Being a mother has been my fiercest challenge and my greatest gift. In 2011, I bought and renovated my very first home in Murray, Nebraska. I sure loved that little house! By 2018, we had outgrown the 900 square feet, so we moved back to Plattsmouth. I now live about 4 blocks from the house where I grew up!In 2024, I graduated from the Applied Leadership Academy at the MCC-ICA, where I learned many new invaluable skills.In my free time, I enjoy entering cooking competitions (I was the 2025 Cass County Fair Salsa Champion!), playing board games and doing puzzles, donating blood (yes, really!), traveling to my family's cabin up in the Nebraska sandhills, and doing crafts with my incredible daughter.Professionally, I entered the workforce at the age of 14 when I got my first job at the local one screen movie theater. I've held a variety of positions over the years, including working at the Plattsmouth Pool, copy editing at the Plattsmouth Journal, cashiering at King Kong restaurant and the Creighton Bookstore, and doing facilities management during my college summers at OPPD power plants.In 2007, I joined the AmeriCorps National Service program where I spent a year building homes in Omaha for Habitat for Humanity. That was one of the most difficult and rewarding experiences of my entire life.I’ve been a lunch lady on and off since 2015. Feeding kids healthy and delicious meals has been an honor and a privilege. School nutrition professionals are some of the best people I've ever known.I’m now an award winning chef &amp; small business owner. Over the last 18 years, I have worked alongside my parents to build Slattery Vintage Estates into an incredible Agri-tourism Destination. Being in a family business isn't always easy, but it is definitely fun! While I did not win that election, I performed better than anyone expected me to. After I lost, I made a promise to keep showing up for my community. In 2023, I filed the petition paperwork that resulted in the recall of a Plattsmouth School Board member who wanted to ban 52 books from the school libraries.In November of 2025, I was appointed to serve on both the Plattsmouth Library Board and the Plattsmouth Bridge Commission.Now, I'm looking to bring some trust and integrity back to the Secretary of State's office. Nebraskans deserve better than the shady dealings and hyper partisanship that have been plaguing our state lately.

I want to help make life better for ALL Nebraskans. Follow along to learn more about me and my ideas to get us back to the promise of "The Good Life".

I firmly believe that everyone who is eligible to vote has a civic responsibility to do so. But voting can be intimidating or confusing for folks.From ever-changing voting precinct locations to Nebraska's newly instituted Voter ID Law, there are lots of voting information gaps that need attention.<h4>One way to increase voter participation would be to allow for same-day voter registration.</h4>23 states, including our neighbors to the East and West allow for same-day registration, with great results. Now that we have a Voter ID law on the books, offering same-day registration would be easier and more secure than ever before!<a href="https://responsivegov.org/research/how-same-day-voter-registration-reduces-election-litigation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Here is a link</a> to a great resource discussing the benefits of same-day registration.

The citizens of Nebraska deserve more respect than they have been given by the SoS lately.<h5>What erodes trust?</h5><ul><li>Corruption, lack of transparency, and perceived unfairness.</li><li>Misleading information and a failure to be responsive to public needs.</li><li>Perceptions that officials don't act in the public's best interest.</li></ul>As Secretary of State, I will work hard to bring trust and transparency back to the office.
